About the Position

NorthCrew General Contracting is looking for a reliable and experienced Construction Labourer / Skid Steer Operatorto join our crew working in Fort McKay.

This is a hands-on position supporting NorthCrew’s civil, general construction and residential projects. The successful candidate will primarily work as part of the ground crew but must also have previous skid-steer experience and be comfortable operating a Cat 289D compact track loader when required.

We are looking for someone who is willing to work, can take direction from the foreman and skilled trades, and is comfortable moving between labouring and equipment operation throughout the day.

Responsibilities

- General construction and site labour
- Assist carpenters, operators and foreman with daily work
- Material handling, loading/unloading and site organization
- Site cleanup and maintaining secure work areas
- Assist with residential construction and home-building activities
- Assist with fencing, culverts, drainage, grading and other civil work
- Use hand and power tools safely
- Operate Cat 289D skid steer as required
- Material movement and stockpiling
- Backfilling and site cleanup with skid steer
- Basic grading and aggregate placement
- Complete pre-use and post-use equipment inspections
- Report equipment defects or maintenance concerns
- Participate in FLHAs, toolbox meetings and required safety documentation




- Perform other construction duties as required

Qualifications
- Previous construction labour experience required
- Previous skid steer operating experience required
- Comfortable operating a skid steer around workers, vehicles and other equipment
- Experience with basic grading, backfill and material handling preferred
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Physically capable of performing construction labour throughout the shift
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a small crew
- Strong safety awareness
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence preferred

Experience with civil construction, residential construction, fencing, culverts, excavation, grading, concrete or carpentry is considered an asset. CSTS/CSO, WHMIS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance and other construction/site certifications are also considered assets.

Work will primarily be based in Fort McKay, Alberta. Additional hours may be available depending on project requirements.

For the person actually replacing Preet, $30/hr would be my target starting point if they demonstrate legitimate skid-steer ability.
