Located in Richmond, BC, Lifetime Design is a custom metal fabrication shop building architectural metalwork for residential and commercial clients across Metro Vancouver.

We're a small, tight-knit shop — not a big-box manufacturing operation. Everyone here wears more than one hat, pitches in where it's needed, and works closely together to get the job done right. About the Role

We're looking for someone who can take a rough concept and turn it into a accurate, buildable shop drawing for custom architectural metalwork — then carry that drawing through to CNC-ready cutting files. The design work is the core of this role: reading intent, solving fit and fabrication problems on paper, and producing drawings the shop can build from without guesswork. CNC programming is the second half of the job, applied to your own drawings.

What You'll Do
Design and draft custom architectural metalwork — gates, railings, fencing, doors, and similar projects — from concepts, specs, and site measurements
Solve design and fabrication problems before they hit the shop floor: material choices, joinery, tolerances, buildability




Translate your finished drawings into CNC-ready cutting programs for aluminum
Troubleshoot cutting programs during production and revise drawings as needed

What You Need
3+ years designing and drafting for metal fabrication, architectural metalwork, or a closely related trade — wood, cabinetry, or furniture experience does not transfer to this role
Strong Fusion 360 skills — comfortable modeling and detailing complex custom metal assemblies
CNC programming experience for metal cutting (aluminum), including G-code and Fusion's CAM workspace
Working knowledge of metal fabrication methods and tolerances
Background in architectural metalwork, custom fabrication, or a related trade

Pay

$30–$40/hour, based on experience and tenure.

Applications without both CAD and CNC experience will not be considered.

Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm. Shop is closed on statutory holidays and over the Christmas break.

Work Location: In person (Richmond, BC)

Pay: $30.00-$38.63 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
