Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Helper for Sanding and Staining of Stairs to join our renovation team. In this role, you will assist skilled craftsmen in preparing and finishing staircases by sanding surfaces smoothly and applying stain to enhance the aesthetic appeal. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in carpentry, woodworking, and finishing techniques while contributing to high-quality renovation projects.

Duties

- Assist with sanding stair treads, risers, and stringers using hand tools and power sanders to achieve a smooth surface ready for staining
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, masking, and taping areas as needed to ensure precise staining application
- Apply stain evenly on stairs using brushes or rollers, following project specifications for color and finish quality
- Support the team in mixing stains and finishes according to manufacturer instructions
- Maintain a clean work environment by disposing of debris, dust, and excess materials regularly
- Follow safety protocols by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves,



and goggles during sanding and staining processes
- Assist with other carpentry or finishing tasks as directed to support overall project progress

Requirements

- Prior experience with hand tools, power tools, or woodworking is preferred but not mandatory—training will be provided for motivated learners
- Basic understanding of construction or renovation processes is advantageous
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting heavy materials safely, and working at heights if necessary
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions clearly
- Willingness to learn new skills related to sanding, staining, and finishing techniques
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to construction activities including proper use of PPE
