List of Requirements

Looking for a private home support worker (female) to assist a female adult quadriplegic in her home. Specifically looking for the following:

- a) Personal care support with evening bed/bath routine (9pm – 11pm shift) 5xs/week
- b) Grocery pickup and fun collaborative cooking (3pm-6pm shift) Thursdays
- c) Occasional weekend recreational and cleaning support as-needed (1-2 hrs) Sat or Sun afternoons

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be physically strong and able to maneuver client in the bed safely for personal care routine.
- Must have strong command of the English language and able to follow verbal direction well.
- Must be willing to wear a mask at all times on duty and maintain short fingernails for personal care tasks.
- Must hold valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to work.
- Mandatory criminal record check (applicant pays).
- Looking for a conscientious, reliable support worker who communicates promptly and follows through on commitments.
- This is an essential role supporting the client in her home, so seeking someone who is genuinely interested in steady, long-term work and can commit to at least one year.
- This job is not intended to be a short-term stop-gap or to do casually.

List of Duties

- Support client with evening routine: undressing, toileting, bathing, hair wash, etc.
- Client has a neuromuscular disorder and uses a motorized wheelchair for mobility. Unable to stand or lift arms.
- Movement is extremely minimal and therefore requires maximum assistance for activities of daily living.
- Transfers are completed using a powered overhead lift with sling.
- Thursday cooking tasks involves online grocery pickup and collaborative cooking in which you become the client’s “hands” to support her ability to be creative in the kitchen.
- Weekend hours would include supporting the client with recreational activities (e.g., home decor, crafts, organizing) and light housekeeping (e.g., vacuuming, dusting, laundry).
- FoodSafe certification a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience with overhead lift a plus but not mandatory.
- On-the-job training provided.
- Workers who are taller in stature tend to have an easier time manipulating client in bed but applicant fit/ability is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Due to the degree of trust required in the intimacy of personal care, the hiring process includes multiple interviews, reference checks, and Criminal Record Check.
