Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer

Duration: 12 months, with potential extension/conversion

Location: Toronto, ON, Hybrid. Currently 2 days onsite, expected to increase to 4 days

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer to support platform engineering, software delivery modernization and AI-enabled engineering initiatives within a large enterprise environment. The role will focus on improving developer productivity, modernizing CI/CD and engineering practices, and enabling automation across the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Design and enhance CI/CD pipelines, release automation and DevOps practices
Support platform engineering and software delivery modernization initiatives
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and engineering automation
Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity
Work extensively with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions and up-to-date developer workflows
Partner with engineering, architecture and infrastructure teams to streamline software delivery
Support standardization and automation of engineering processes across a large enterprise environment





Must-Have Qualifications
8+ years of relevant platform engineering, DevOps or software delivery experience
Solid hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and release automation
Robust experience with GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions
Experience implementing up-to-date engineering practices within large enterprise environments
Experience evaluating or implementing AI-assisted software development/engineering tools
Understanding of practical AI use cases across the SDLC
Strong automation, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have
GitHub Copilot adoption or engineering enablement experience
Internal developer platforms and self-service engineering tooling
Cloud-native technologies and modernization initiatives
Financial services or other large regulated enterprise experience
Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline
