Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance Mechanic – The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery, facility systems, and related equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and applicable safety standards. This role supports day-to-day production by completing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime, and contributing to a safe, efficient food manufacturing environment.

Shifts:

1. Monday to Friday 6am-2:30pm
2. Friday to Monday 8am-6pm

Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all company safety policies, quality standards, Valuable Manufacturing Practices, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, parts replacement, equipment setup, and basic calibration.
- Repair and replace motors, bearings, pumps, valves, gearboxes, chains, belts, and other equipment components.
- Identify and communicate mechanical hazards, equipment concerns, and repair requirements to maintenance leadership, production supervisors, and operators.
- Support maintenance staff and production uptime by assisting with breakdowns, completing repairs efficiently, and assisting operators with routine preventive maintenance practices.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records,



work orders, and related documentation as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, and waste reduction.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, lockout/tagout, and other regulatory or company requirements when performing maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as requested by management.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 2–3 years of maintenance mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment; food processing experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors, pumps, compressors, pneumatics, hydraulics, basic electrical controls, and high-speed packaging equipment.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, technical drawings, and maintenance instructions.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical repair skills.
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication, time management, and documentation skills.

This position may require a regular work schedule of approximately 50 hours per week, when overtime is required. Employment is conditional upon the employee entering into a written agreement to work excess weekly hours as permitted under the Ontario Employment Standards Act. Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable legislation.

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
