We have an opening for Hotel Accountant at Coast Victoria Hotel & Marina by APA in beautiful Victoria, BC.

The Hotel

Accountant will contribute to the overall success of Coast Hotels by providing clerical and data entry support to Finance & Accounting. This role works at the property and reports to the centralized accounting department at Coast Hotels Corporate Office.

What you will do:
Handles administrative duties in relation to the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Follows established procedures and policies within the Finance & Accounting department when completing tasks
Processes accounts which may include collections, billing, posting of payments including cash, cheques, EFTs and credit cards in a timely manner
Maintains files, records and statements
Reconciles specific accounts and any other assigned accounts daily/weekly
Researches and resolves payment discrepancies and brings abnormal differences to the manager's attention
Assists the manager in preparation of monthly financial statements and other end of the month duties
Verifies that all charges, taxes,



calculations and extensions of each invoice is accurate and in compliance with the original contract and the sales and settlements are posted
Investigates, documents and obtains adequate approval of credit applications in accordance with company policy
Acts as an Ambassador for the Finance & Accounting department, including responding to basic internal / external inquiries
Ensures the safety and security of the property, the ambassadors, and guests when completing tasks
Inputs data into the appropriate database
Produces statistics and reports on the data as per standard formats
Other duties as required

What you bring:
Secondary School Diploma
1 to 2 years of related work experience
Knowledge of basic A/R and A/P functions
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
Technical aptitude
Attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office Suite with solid emphasis on Excel skills
Ability to identify and solve problems
Robust phone manner/etiquette
Some experience with conflict resolution an asset
Additional education in the field of Accounting an asset
