ABOUT SCHOLAR MINDS

Scholar Minds is an educational support company focused on personalized tutoring, academic development, diagnostic assessment, test preparation, and educational consulting. We work with students from elementary through high school and provide individualized academic support based on each student's goals, strengths, learning needs, and areas for growth. We are currently building our team of tutors and educators and are seeking knowledgeable, dependable, and student-focused individuals across a wide range of academic subjects.

Applicants do not need to tutor every subject listed below. We encourage applicants to identify the grade levels, subjects, and services in which they have strong academic knowledge and teaching experience.

TEST PREPARATION AND DIAGNOSTIC SUPPORT We are also interested in applicants with experience in:

- Literacy and numeracy assessments
- Identifying student learning gaps
- Developing academic improvement plans based on assessment results

RESPONSIBILITIES As a Scholar Minds tutor, you will:
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions.
- Prepare lessons based on individual student needs and academic goals.
- Explain concepts using clear and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
- Support students with homework, assignments, assessments, and test preparation.




- Identify areas of strength and areas requiring further instruction.
- Adapt instruction based on student progress and learning needs.
- Help students develop stronger study habits, organization, independence, and academic confidence.
- Provide appropriate feedback to students and parents or guardians.
- Maintain professional communication with Scholar Minds staff and families.
- Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of completed tutoring sessions.
- Follow professional expectations regarding student privacy, safety, and confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled in or graduated from a recognized college or university program.
- Strong academic knowledge in the subjects selected for tutoring.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain academic concepts clearly to students.
- Reliable, professional, organized, and punctual.
- Comfortable working independently with students.
- Able to adapt instruction for different learning styles, ability levels, and academic needs.
- Able to communicate professionally with parents, guardians, students, and Scholar Minds staff.
- Access to a reliable computer and internet connection for online tutoring.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications are considered assets:
- Ontario Certified Teacher status.
- Bachelor of Education or enrollment in a Bachelor of Education program.
- Previous tutoring, teaching, coaching, mentoring, or educational support experience.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree related to the subjects being taught.
- Experience with the Ontario Curriculum.
- Experience supporting students with learning exceptionalities.
- Special Education qualifications or related experience.
- French language proficiency.
- Experience teaching senior high school mathematics or sciences.
- Experience with standardized testing or diagnostic assessment.
- Experience preparing students for EQAO, OSSLT, SAT, ACT, CAEC, or specialized program admissions.
- Experience with academic coaching, study skills, or executive functioning support.

COMPENSATION Scholar Minds offers competitive hourly compensation based on tutor qualifications and the type of service provided.

Junior Tutors, Non-OCT Certified: $50.00/hr

- For university students,



university graduates, subject specialists, and experienced tutors who do not hold Ontario Certified Teacher status

Ontario Certified Teachers and Teacher Candidates: $80.00/hr

- For Ontario Certified Teachers and candidates currently completing a recognized teacher education program.

Test Preparation and Specialized Assessment Tutors: $120.00/hr

- For tutors providing specialized preparation for standardized tests, entrance assessments, and other designated testing services offered through Scholar Minds.

Tutor assignments are based on qualifications, subject expertise, grade level, availability, and student needs. Tutors work on a part-time, contract basis. Hours vary based on student demand, tutor availability, subject area, and accepted assignments.

AVAILABILITY

Most tutoring takes place outside regular school hours. Applicants should have some availability during one or more of the following periods:
- Weekday afternoons
- Weekday evenings
- Saturdays
- Sundays
- School holidays and academic breaks

Tutors provide their availability and are matched with students based on subject expertise, grade level, scheduling, and student needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Provide proof of relevant education or current post-secondary enrollment.
- Provide a current resume.
- Provide references upon request.
- Complete an interview with Scholar Minds.
- Demonstrate competency in the subjects they wish to tutor.
- Complete a Vulnerable Sector Check where required for the assigned tutoring arrangement.
- Follow Scholar Minds policies regarding professional conduct, student safety, confidentiality, communication, and academic integrity.
- Maintain reliable attendance for accepted student assignments.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Scholar Minds is looking for educators and tutors who understand that effective tutoring involves more than completing homework with a student. Strong tutors identify where a student is struggling, explain concepts in different ways, provide appropriate practice, and gradually help students become more independent learners.

This position is suited to university students, recent graduates, teacher candidates, Ontario Certified Teachers, retired educators, and subject specialists who enjoy working directly with students.
