YOUR MISSION:
Reporting to the President and CEO, theProduction Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Metal andVinyl departments. He or she oversees the planning, organization, optimization,and control of manufacturing operations to meet objectives for quality, safety,productivity, delivery times, and profitability.
He is responsible for production planning andmanaging the plant’s manufacturing capacity. Based on the order backlog, hesets manufacturing priorities, determines the work schedule, ensures theavailability of necessary resources, and oversees compliance with productionand delivery schedules.
He acts as a leader and is accountable for theplant’s operational results. He implements the systems, processes, and metricsthat enable sustainable, continuous performance improvement. Thisresponsibility is based in particular on the practices of planning, continuousimprovement, KPI management, and process optimization identified in theplanning and Lean roles.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Capacity Planning andManagement
- Develop short-, medium-, andlong-term production planning strategies.
- Translate the order backloginto a realistic and executable production plan.
- Determine manufacturingpriorities and the order in which orders are processed based on deadlines,available capacity, and company objectives.
- Ensure a balance betweendemand, manufacturing capacity, human resources, and equipment.
- Adjust the schedule based onoperational constraints.
- Identify bottlenecks,overload risks, and capacity variances, then implement the necessary actions.
- Ensure that manufacturing anddelivery deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with sales,design, and purchasing to ensure the smooth execution of the order backlog.
- Ensure the availability ofthe resources necessary to execute the production plan.
Leadership and Team Management
- Mentor,develop, and motivate production managers.
- Setperformance goals and monitor progress toward them.
- Participatein decisions regarding hiring, development, and succession planning for keypositions.
- Foster aculture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Developmanagement skills within supervisory teams.
- Ensureteams are aligned with the company’s priorities and objectives.
Operational Performance Management
- Define andmonitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analyzeperformance variances and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure thatobjectives for productivity, performance, efficiency, quality, and on-timedelivery are met.
- Develop andmaintain management dashboards.
- Presentoperational results to management and recommend necessary actions.
- Use a PDCAapproach to manage operations and improve results.
Inventory and Procurement Management
- Define strategic inventorylevels and MIN/MAX parameters.
- Forecast raw material needsbased on the order backlog and sales forecasts.
- Reduce the risk of stockoutsand excess inventory.
- Collaborate with thepurchasing department to ensure material availability.
- Optimize inventory managementand material flows.
Budget Management
- Prepare and manage the annualoperations budget.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Participate in decisions regarding investments and infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure the optimal use offinancial, human, and material resources.
After 3 months — Understanding, Credibility, and Assessment
- You have developed a thorough understanding of the Metal and Vinyl departments’operations, production workflows, and key operational challenges.
- You have established a relationship of trust with supervisors and the company’svarious departments.
- You are proficient in the management tools, planning systems, and metricscurrently in use.
- You have identified key opportunities for improvement in productivity,planning, quality, and inventory management.
- You have developed a clear roadmap for priorities over the coming months.
Your onboarding is successful when the teams perceive you as a credible,organized, and solution-oriented leader.
After 6 Months —Structuring and Performance Improvement
- Your team is aligned around clearobjectives and effective management routines.
- KPIs for production, quality, inventory,and occupational health and safety are rigorously tracked and used to informdecision-making.
- The first continuous improvementinitiatives have generated measurable gains.
- The order backlog is translated intostructured production plans, and manufacturing priorities are clearlyestablished.
- Production lead times are bettercontrolled, and capacity issues are anticipated several weeks in advance.
- Collaboration with sales, procurement,design, and maintenance is strengthened.
You are recognized as a keycontributor to operational stability and the organization of the plant.
After 12 Months —Sustainable Performance and Recognized Leadership
- The Metal and Vinyl departmentsconsistently meet their safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals.
- Performance metrics are fully integratedinto management routines.
- A culture of continuous improvement is wellestablished among supervisors and teams.
- The optimization projects implemented haveimproved manufacturing capacity, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- The planning process is structured andpredictable, enabling the plant to respond effectively to growth in the orderbacklog while meeting customer commitments.
- You have become the internal go-to expertfor manufacturing management and actively contribute to the company’s strategicdecisions.
Your success is measured bythe sustainable performance of operations, the development of your team, andthe plant’s ability to support Grandchamp’s growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrialengineering, operations management, business administration, or a relatedfield. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will beconsidered.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturingmanagement or production supervision.
- Significant experience in productionplanning, scheduling, capacity management, and priority management in amanufacturing workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to plan resourcesbased on the order backlog, operational constraints, and delivery schedules.
- Experience in a manufacturing environmentundergoing growth or organizational transformation (a significant asset).
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Odoo).
- Experience managing supervisors orfirst-line managers.
- Be versatile and enjoy working in anenvironment with varied responsibilities.
- Strong analytical skills, with the abilityto clearly articulate objectives, identify alternatives, make sound and timelydecisions, and implement selected solutions.
- Ability to make decisions quickly in anenvironment where priorities are constantly changing.
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and results-orientedapproach.
