Job Summary:CSA Group Standards Division has an opportunity for a Program Manager, Data and Agri-food, reporting to the Director, Data and Agri-food Standards.

The Program

Manager (PGM) is responsible for providing strategic and execution leadership in the development of standards-based solutions for the Data and Agri-food program, addressing the needs of industry, government and the public, primarily through the management of a team of Project Managers.A leader, motivator, and builder, you thrive on developing and executing plans and strategies for expanding CSA Group’s presence in Data and Agri-food standards. The program includes emerging and cross-sector areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, IoT, data governance and interoperability, advanced manufacturing, intelligent cities, quantum computing, sustainable and protected agriculture practices, as well as the digitization, efficiency and resilience of the agri-food supply chain.An outstanding relationship builder, you have a track record of developing and maintaining strategic relationships with senior leaders within industry, government, academia, technology providers, producer organizations, and other interested parties. Facilitative and customer-driven, you develop practical standards-based solutions that address stakeholder needs while supporting innovation, trust, safety, sustainability and economic efficiency.You have proven, well-developed decision-making and communication skills, along with exceptional organizational and people development abilities.

Detail and process orientation is important, as is the ability to work well with people at all levels and with divergent interests.Responsibilities:• Hires, continually assesses, trains, coaches and develops Project Managers to ensure program objectives are achieved.

- Provides strategic leadership and direction to the team, supporting a healthy, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Meets regularly with staff to ensure standards projects are achieving their objectives and timelines within prescribed budgets, planning and executing corrective actions as required while meeting policies and procedures from the Standards Council of Canada.
- Develops the annual business plan for the program, including the execution plan, budget, publication plan, revenue targets and resource requirements.
- Works with the Director, Strategic Initiatives, Standards Research, Education and Services, Government Relations, Public Policy, Marketing, Commercial and other sector staff to identify and advance business development opportunities within the program.
- Applies knowledge of the standards industry, government policy, technology trends, industry landscape and funding models to identify new standards, research, education, advisory and related opportunities.




- Interfaces with external parties to advance the work of the program, facilitates knowledge transfer, and manages program-specific stakeholder issues.
- Builds and maintains relationships with organizations such as industry associations, producer groups, technology providers, academia, NGOs, strategic partners, government agencies, regulators, international standards bodies and other interested parties.
- Provides leadership for committee management, as applicable, including Strategic Steering Committees, advisory groups and technical committees, by establishing scope, preparing agendas and meeting materials, managing resources, maintaining balanced membership and supporting Chairs and Vice-Chairs.
- Manages key program funding contracts, as applicable, and relationships with key funders and related stakeholders.
- Supports the development and sustaining of Communities of Interest for the program area, including membership models, participation, funding, communications and knowledge mobilization.
- Responsible for continuously improving customer loyalty, membership engagement and employee engagement in the program area.Other notes:• The role requires a sound understanding of CSA Group processes and procedures, many of which are mandated under the accreditation of CSA Standards by the Standards Council of Canada. A key element of the position is to ensure that these processes and procedures are followed and that project timelines are achieved within defined budgets.
- This role supports the activities of Project Managers and the many members of standards development committees, advisory groups, Chairs and Vice-Chairs. This volunteer membership may include industry executives, technology providers, producers, academia, consumers and senior government officials. The role requires the capacity to engage and manage a diverse stakeholder community and to manage conflict constructively.
- The role emphasizes management, leadership, strategic thinking and soft skills over technical specialization, while requiring the ability to speak credibly on a range of complex and emerging topics, including data-driven systems, cybersecurity, AI, IoT, digital agriculture, sustainable agriculture and resilient supply chains.
- Normal office setting, with moderate pressure from project deadlines, stakeholder expectations and team interactions. Flexibility to work against deadlines is required, and travel within Canada and the United States may be required.Education and Experience:• BSc,



B.Eng or a related area of study. A discipline related to data, digital technologies, engineering, agriculture, agri-food systems, information technology, cybersecurity, or sustainability would be an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Standards Development, or business-related Project or Program Management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic planning, operational management, and Program or Project Management in a relevant sector, coupled with a solid knowledge of related issues and trends in data, digital technologies, emerging technologies or agri-food.
- 3 to 5 years of leadership experience managing multiple, large or cross-functional teams, programs, products or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
- Experience with managing people, knowledge of standards development processes, and experience working with teams of high-profile experts would be assets.Skills:• Knowledge of the national and international standards industry.
- Knowledge of government policy, regulations, industry landscape, stakeholder ecosystems and funding programs/models.
- Knowledge of one or more Data and Agri-food program areas, such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, IoT, data governance, data interoperability, advanced manufacturing, intelligent cities, quantum computing, sustainable agriculture, digitization of agriculture, supply chain efficiency or supply chain resilience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and critically in developing solutions to complex problems.
- High degree of self-motivation.
- Strong ability to interpret data, research and analysis to draw insightful conclusions and recommendations.
- Research and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage teams with varied skills and experience levels.

- Competency with major Microsoft and Project Management software.

The actual base pay offered will depend on factors such as education, licenses, certifications and experience. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
