About the Role Our client is seeking a talented Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Kimberley. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing advanced battery energy storage solutions for a variety of applications, including grid-scale, commercial, and industrial projects. You will work on cutting-edge technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate storage systems effectively. The hybrid nature of this role allows for focused work in office for critical tasks and collaborative sessions, while offering flexibility for remote work on analysis and design tasks, ensuring project success and efficient team coordination.
Key Responsibilities Design and specify components for energy storage systems (ESS), including batteries, inverters, and control systems.
Perform system modeling and simulation to optimize ESS performance, reliability, and economic viability.
Develop control strategies and algorithms for ESS operation and integration with renewable energy sources and the grid.
Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and project managers throughout the product development lifecycle.




Conduct site assessments and develop technical proposals for ESS installations.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ESS performance and integration.
Requirements Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on energy storage.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, development, or application of battery energy storage systems.
Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, control systems, and grid integration principles.
Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and experience with ESS design software.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment, both independently and collaboratively.
