About the Position

NorthCrew General Contracting is looking for an experienced Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter to join our growing team for upcoming work in the Fort McKay and Wood Buffalo region.

This is a versatile, hands-on position supporting a variety of NorthCrew projects. Current and upcoming work includes recent home construction in Fort McKay, general carpentry and community projects, with opportunities to support industrial and site-based work as additional projects become available.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of assigned carpentry work, work effectively with other carpenters and trades, and step in to provide skilled support wherever needed.

NorthCrew is a growing general contractor, so the work may vary from project to project. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with that variety and wants the opportunity to grow with the company.

Responsibilities

- New residential home construction
- Framing, blocking, sheathing and general rough carpentry
- Decks, stairs, railings and exterior construction
- Concrete formwork
- Fencing and gates
- Layout, measuring and reading construction drawings
- General carpentry installations, repairs and renovations
- Work independently on assigned carpentry scopes
- Support other NorthCrew carpenters and field crews as required




- Assist with general construction and site work when required
- Coordinate tools, materials and daily work requirements
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship
- Participate in toolbox meetings, hazard assessments and required safety documentation
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Work safely around equipment, operators and other trades

Qualifications
- Red Seal Carpenter / Journeyperson Carpenter certification required
- Strong residential and/or general construction experience
- Experience with new home construction and framing preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong layout, measuring and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Comfortable working as part of a small, versatile construction crew
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Reliable and safety-minded
- Willing to work different schedules depending on project requirements

Experience with concrete formwork, decks, fencing, civil construction, industrial construction or equipment operation is considered an asset.

Schedule

Schedules will vary depending on the project.

Current and upcoming work may include:

- Monday–Friday schedules for Fort McKay residential and community projects




- Rotational schedules such as 10 days on / 10 days off for industrial or site-based projects
- Additional hours as required by individual projects

Specific schedules and project requirements will be discussed with candidates before assignment. Safety & Certifications

CSTS/CSO, WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Protection, Ground Disturbance and other applicable construction or industrial certifications are considered assets.

Required project-specific training will be confirmed during onboarding.

Pay: $40.00–$46.00 per hour

Work Location: Fort McKay / Fort McMurray area

Schedule: Varies by project

Work Setting: In person

This version gives you room to use the carpenter for the Fort McKay home builds Monday–Friday, but if an industrial opportunity comes up, you've already been transparent that rotational/site work may be part of the position. It also avoids promising a permanent schedule or guaranteed 10/10 rotation before you know where the work is going.

Pay: $40.00-$46.00 per hour
