Pason is seeking a Data Science Intern in our Research team for a 16-month internship from May 2027 until August 2028. You will use your robust analytical and programming skills to extract meaningful insights from IoT-based sensor data. Your responsibilities will include developing data analytics, signal processing, machine learning, and control loop algorithms. You will work with a talented group of algorithm and control system designers in an applied research setting.

This is an opportunity to learn how data science works in a real-world industrial application.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design algorithms which clean, aggregate, and analyze data from industrial process sensors for the purposes of performance analysis, event detection, and process optimization.
Design, test, and deploy standalone and web-based software applications for data analytics.
Design real-time signal processing and control loop algorithms and test their performance on historical sensor data as well as live field trials.
Learn state-of-the‑art machine learning techniques and perform experiments to determine how they are best applied to petroleum oilfield data.




Work with Pason account managers to solve mathematical and statistical analysis problems for high-priority customers.
Participate in team technical discussions, research paper reviews, and propose novel ideas to solve challenging engineering problems.
Present product prototypes to sales, engineering, and/or management teams.

Programming languages such as Matlab, Python, Java, and SQL
AI coding tools such as CoPilot and Junie
Python dashboarding libraries such as Streamlit and Plotly Dash
Machine learning, signal processing, and control systems
Statistical analysis and data visualization
Database architecture, development, and management
This position allows the chance for an employee to work in a hybrid setting where a portion of their role is in the office and the other portion remote.

Education
Currently enrolled in 3rd year studies in Electrical, Computer, Software or Geomatics Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
