JOB SUMMARY The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing engagement activities that support Council priorities, organizational initiatives, programs, services, and projects that support Chief and Council priorities identified through the Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) and reflected in the OKIB Strategic Plan. The position helps departments and leadership gather community feedback, validate findings, and report back to Community in a clear and transparent manner.
REPORTING STRUCTURE Reports to the Communications and Events Manager and works closely with the Communications team.
RESPONSIBILITES Engagement planning and consultation Develop engagement strategies and implementation plans that create opportunities for Community members to participate in discussions related to organizational priorities and initiatives
Work with departments to identify engagement needs and recommend appropriate engagement approaches
Develop engagement timelines, participation strategies, and evaluation measures
Assist departments in identifying opportunities for community participation and feedback
Community consultation and participation Coordinate and facilitate community meetings, workshops, open houses, focus groups, information sessions,



community discussions and other engagement activities, as required
Develop surveys, questionnaires, discussion guides, feedback forms, and other engagement tools as required
Coordinate the collection of community feedback through a variety of engagement methods
Coordinate validation activities to ensure engagement findings accurately reflect Community perspectives
Community planning and Council priorities Support engagement activities related to implementation of the Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP), OKIB Strategic Plan, and Council priorities
Assist departments in gathering Community feedback to support planning, decision-making, and service delivery
Support community participation opportunities related to governance initiatives, strategic planning, community development, and major organizational projects
Help ensure Community perspectives are documented, validated, and considered during planning and decision-making processes
Support reporting back to Community on progress related to Council priorities and organizational initiatives
Reporting and organizational support Prepare engagement summaries, reports, recommendations, and 'What We Heard' documents
Support reporting related to engagement commitments, Council priorities, and organizational initiatives
Assist departments and leadership in understanding engagement findings and Community feedback
Support reporting back to Community on engagement outcomes and next steps
GENERAL DUTIES Participates in community events as requested, with the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and community initiatives
All employees of OKIB may be required to assist in the delivery of emergency services.



Duties during emergencies may differ from regular responsibilities
Performs duties in accordance with OKIB policies and procedures
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Education Diploma or Degree in Communications, Community Development, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, Planning, Political Science, Public Relations, Sociology, or a related field
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Experience Minimum three (3) years experience in community engagement, consultation, community development, planning, communications, or a related field
Proven experience planning and facilitating engagement activities such as community meetings, workshops, open houses, focus groups, and information sessions
Experience developing engagement plans, surveys, discussion guides, feedback collection tools, engagement reports
International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) training or certification, and experience applying engagement best practices, facilitation techniques, or Indigenous engagement approaches, is considered a strong asset.
