Description:The LPN is responsible for providing care for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes.In collaboration with patients and the health care team, the LPN performs nursing interventions within their scope of practice.As the acuity or complexity of patient care increases,



the LPN works under the supervision of the RN.The RN retains accountability for the assignment and/or delegation of patient care activities to the LPN.The LPN is accountable for individual actions or practices performed during care.The LPN complies with documentation processes as required.Competencies such as IV initiation and IV medication administration are considered entry-level skills.Approval for these practices may vary between different units.External staff with these competencies must consult with the Charge Nurse to determine their applicability.Certain medications may also have restrictions regarding administration by LPNs.
