Are you an experienced Software Solution Architect with a focus on online discount brokerage?

Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr. Solution Architect - InvestorLine & Online/Discount Brokerage supporting the RISE transformation. This position involves designing and overseeing the architecture of the client-facing online trading platform, ensuring security, performance, and scalability as part of a major wealth management system upgrade.

Responsibilities

Define and translate business requirements into scalable software architecture designs for online brokerage trading platforms.

Collaborate with business analysts, development teams, security specialists, and vendors to deliver integrated solutions.

Architect API integrations, automation, and client authentication methods supporting high-volume online trading.

Ensure architecture addresses security considerations, including data protection, secure access, and API security.

Design for high performance, availability, resiliency, and security in an externally accessible environment.

Support end-to-end client trading workflows involving equities, ETFs, fixed income, margin trading, short selling, and securities lending.

Review downstream designs for adherence to security, performance, and architectural standards.

Stay current with industry best practices related to online trading platforms and incorporate evolving security standards.

Assist in supporting the delivery of solutions through hands‑on review and guidance throughout implementations.

Desired Skill-Set

5+ years of software solution architecture experience, with a focus on wealth management and online discount brokerage.





Direct experience architecting client-facing online trading platforms supporting Canadian markets.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian brokerage products such as equities, ETFs, fixed income, margin accounts, short selling, and securities lending.

Solid understanding of online trading architecture, including API design, web application security, and cloud architecture.

Proven ability to design secure, high-performance internet-facing financial applications with high transaction volumes.

Experience working within a regulated financial environment, with an emphasis on security and compliance.

Ability to interpret and translate trading workflows into robust technical solutions.

Nice to Have

Experience supporting FNZ wealth platform transformations.

Previous architect experience with BMO InvestorLine or comparable Canadian discount brokerages.

Cloud architecture experience within regulated financial institutions.

Familiarity with moving between multiple Canadian brokerage environments.

Knowledge of application security standards and best practices for online financial platforms.
