Position Summary

Toronto Rehab is a leader in adult rehabilitation and complex continuing care. It brings together innovative patient care, ground breaking research and diverse education to help people overcome or recover from disabling injury, illness or age-related conditions. E. W. Bickle Centre is one of five Toronto Rehab sites across Toronto.

Reporting to the Manager, Professional Practice, the Advanced Practice Nurse Educator (APNE) is an integral member of the interdisciplinary leadership team anddemonstratesa set of core competencies fundamental to developing andmaintainingthe academic practice environment at UHN.

The APNE aligned with the Progressive Rehab Unit at Bickle Centreis a member ofthe Toronto Rehab Practice Leadership team and Practice-Based Education team within the Collaborative Academic Practice portfolio. The APNE role involves enhancing patient care by applying evidence-based practices, providing clinical consultation, and addressing gaps in practice.

Duties

Design and deliver tailored staff education

Promotes professional development, and mentor nurses for growth opportunities

Collaborate with teams across UHN and the academic community on clinical and educational initiatives

Participate in committees, and share best practices

Leads program evaluation, implements cutting-edge education strategies, and supports and leads quality improvement initiatives

Drive nursing visibility and change management efforts, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations

Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and able to practice without restrictions

Master's degree in nursing or educationrequired

Current membership in RNAO (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario) is preferred





Current membership in a related professional interest group or association is preferred

Theoretical and practical experience in adult educationand other relevant educational frameworks,includinglearning needs assessment,educational program planning, development, and evaluation, isrequired

Completion of specialty-specific certification program(s) relevant to respective clinical areasrequired

Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) programrequiredupon hire

Experience as an Educator considered an asset

Experience with Hemodialysisconsidered an asset

At least three years ofprevious nursing experience inbehavioral health and/or acute care environment preferred

Completion of specialty-specific certification program(s) relevant to respective clinical areas, preferred

Excellent leadership, time management, facilitation skills

Interprets,communicatesanddisseminatesresearch findings to support patient care and recommends evidence-based policy and practice change

Ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching and collaboration,facilitatechange and promote continuous improvement

Demonstrate ability to motivate staff and create an workplace conducive to learning and team building

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Able to work effectively as a memberof and/or leadan interprofessionalteam

Able to effectively use information technology

Ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines
