Software Development Engineer II, Prime Tech - RAPIDX
Build the technology that welcomes millions of new Amazon Prime members and helps them discover and enjoy everything their membership offers. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who wants to solve large-scale distributed systems problems with direct, measurable impact on customers.

Prime is one of the world's largest subscription programs, and the experiences a member has in their first days shape whether they stay for years. Our team owns the services that greet recent members and guide them to the benefits that matter most to them, across web, mobile app, and email, in countries around the world.

As an engineer on the team, you will design, build, and operate backend services that deliver personalized onboarding experiences at high scale and low latency. You will own your services end to end, from design through production, and work closely with product managers, designers, and applied scientists to launch experiments and turn ideas into features members use every day.

Key job responsibilities
Design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency backend services that power personalized member experiences
Improve the performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of systems that handle very high request volumes
Partner with product, design, and science to launch and experiment with new onboarding experiences across multiple countries
Write well-tested, maintainable code and raise the engineering bar through design and code reviews
Own the operational health of your services and continuously improve it
Own your services end to end - design, implementation, deployment, and day-to-day operations
Take ambiguous problems and turn them into simple, durable solutions

A day in the life
No two days look the same, but most blend deep work with collaboration. You might start by checking the health of your services and the results of a live experiment, then move into designing a new feature with a product manager and designer. You'll write and review code, dig into a performance or reliability question, and pair with other engineers to unblock a launch. Because we ship and experiment often, you'll regularly see a change you made reach real members and watch the data come back to tell you whether it worked.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications




3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
