TheCityofOwenSoundisseekingadetail-orientedandanalyticalprofessionaltojoinourFinanceteamasa FinancialAnalyst .ReportingtotheFinancialServicesSupervisor,thispositionplaysakeyroleinmaintainingtheCity'sfinancialintegritythroughfinancialreporting,analysis,budgetingsupport,treasuryfunctions,businesssystemssupport,andcontinuousimprovementinitiatives.
TheFinancialAnalystworkscollaborativelyacrosstheorganizationtoprovidefinancialinsight,supportdecision-making,enhancefinancialprocesses,andensurecompliancewithmunicipallegislation,accountingstandards,andinternalcontrols.Thispositionalsosupportscustomerserviceinitiatives,financialtechnologymodernization,andcorporatereportingrequirements.Thispostingisforanexistingvacancy.
WhatYou’llDo FinancialReporting&Accounting; Prepare,review,andreconcilegeneralledgeraccounts,journalentries,paymentvouchers,andfinancialtransactions.
Assistwithannualfinancialstatements,year-endworkingpapers,andexternalauditrequirements.
Maintainandsupportaccountingrecordsfortangiblecapitalassets,includingacquisitions,disposals,andtransfers.
Providefinancialanalysisandreportingtodepartmentsacrosstheorganization.
SupportcompliancewithPublicSectorAccountingStandards(PSAS),GenerallyAcceptedAccountingPrinciples(GAAP),municipallegislation,andinternalcontrols.
Budgeting&FinancialAnalysis; Supportthepreparation,monitoring,andreportingoftheCity'soperatingandcapitalbudgets.
Conductvarianceanalysisandfinancialforecasting.
Assistwithreservefund,fleet,capital,andcorporatefinancialreporting.
Providefinancialinformationtosupportlong-termplanningandoperationaldecision-making.
Identifyopportunitiestoimprovereportingprocessesandorganizationalefficiency.
FinancialSystems&BusinessImprovement; Assistwithimplementation,testing,configuration,andsupportoffinancialandbusinesssystems.
Participateinreportdevelopment,systemenhancements,useracceptancetesting,andprocessimprovementinitiatives.
SupportongoingadministrationandcontinuousimprovementoffinancialapplicationsandERPsystems.




Liaisewithfinancialinstitutionsandvendorsregardingelectronicbanking,paymentprocessing,andtreasury-relatedtechnologies.
Supportcustomer-facingfinancialtechnologiesincludingonlinepaymentsystemsandcustomerportals.
Revenue,Treasury&CustomerService; Providesupportfortaxandwaterbilling,collections,andcustomeraccountinquiries.
Assistcustomerswithpaymentoptions,accountregistration,andonlineservices.
Supporttreasuryoperations,electronicbankingtransactions,reconciliations,andpaymentprocessing.
Providebackupsupportforaccountspayableandrelatedfinancialfunctions.
Assistwithcustomercommunicationsrelatedtofinancialservicesandprocessimprovements.

WhatWe’reLookingFor Education&Experience; Two-yearCollegeDiplomainAccounting,Finance,Economics,BusinessAdministration,orarelateddiscipline.
Minimumthree(3)yearsofexperienceinafinancialoraccounting-relatedrole.
Municipalexperienceisconsideredanasset.
MunicipalTaxAdministrationProgramand/orMunicipalAdministrationProgramcertificationconsideredassets.
Skills&Competencies; Knowledgeofaccountingprinciples,budgeting,forecasting,varianceanalysis,andfinancialreporting.
