The Ministry of the Solicitor General is seeking two (2) Senior Advisors to support the Office of the Provincial Security Advisor – for the Research and Analysis Unit (RAU).

The Office of the Provincial Security Advisor (OPSA) provides the province's decision makers with security intelligence and advice on threats to Ontario's prosperity as well as its personnel, information and assets. The OPSA provides advice based on open-source research assessments, engagement with federal, provincial and territorial counterparts, and information sharing with key internal and external partners. Some of the OPSA's areas of focus are cyber and information threats, economic security, threats to public safety, and physical and information security consultations.

About the job

As part of the team, you will:

- Conduct open-source research and provide analysis and advice to executives; prepare executive-ready briefings, reports, and materials for key meetings and forums
- Serve as the central liaison for the unit, developing and managing high-profile stakeholder relationships and resolving sensitive issues
- Prioritize and coordinate requests, responses, and follow-up activities




- Support operational effectiveness by developing and evaluating strategies, policies, and communication processes
- Lead and deliver special projects requiring research, analysis, and cross-ministry coordination
- Independently research and develop briefing products on emerging issues related to OPSA's mandate
- Collaborate with unit and division colleagues to deliver results for complex problems/requests.

Meet Your New Team

The Research and Analysis Unit (RAU) provides the province's decision makers with advice and security intelligence on threats to Ontario's economic security and prosperity. The RAU conducts open-source research, distills the research through critical thinking, engages with partners across governments, and analyzes issues pertaining to economic and foreign engagement risks, geopolitical security issues, research security issues, threats to public safety, and strategic cyber matters.

What you bring to the team

Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

You have:

- experience managing competing and shifting priorities under tight timelines
- research skills and the ability to analyze information with critical thinking to identify key insights
- the ability to identify operational issues and propose actionable recommendations
- experience coordinating information to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables

Communication

You have:

- demonstrated ability to draft, review, and edit executive ready materials with minimal supervision
- experience presenting complex information clearly to varied audiences
- the ability to prepare clear, concise briefing materials and coordinate responses to issues, correspondence, and executive requests

Stakeholder Relationship Management

You have:

- experience building effective working relationships with partners across ministries and agencies
- the ability to communicate and represent the ministry's perspective clearly, and provide advice on protocols
