Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Manager of Translation Services, you will translate and revise texts translated internally or externally (from English into French) in all businesses of the organization, specifically in corporate communications , insurance and technology, by using translation tools (memoQ, Globalese) judiciously to ensure the quality and consistency in translated documents and to hit the productivity goals for your level.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end long-term translation projects, by working with the coordinator, internal partners and external suppliers

Serve as the language expert for your colleagues, internal partners and suppliers

Coach, train and guide less experienced team members in translation and customer service issues and challenges

Fill in for the Associate Manager, as required

Demonstrate strong file analysis skills and decisiveness

Ensure the tone and style of translated documents follow the brand guidelines

Conduct terminological research to produce high-quality translations, and add to the terminological database by creating records

Work with internal partners and other members of the Translation Services to produce quality turnkey translations

Meet or exceed service level agreements

Be able to work under pressure, and manage emergencies and priorities

Required Skills

Experience in translation – minimum 8 years required

Bilingual in French and English – minimum 10 years required

Strong communication skills

Ability to answer questions for other team members and serve as the go-to resource

Conduct terminological research

Knowledge of FlowFit and memoQ – minimum 8 years required

Attention to detail





Full proficiency of French and English language nuances in the team's field of specialty – corporate communications, insurance and technology

Accuracy and attention to detail – take personal accountability for the quality of the work; make sure the work is done right and is of high quality

Efficiency – find ways to make the most of the available time and resources; improve efficiency and productivity by organizing your schedule

Team player – work effectively with other team members to hit common goals; help maintain a positive work atmosphere

Technology – be familiar with request management and translation tools; knowledge of FlowFit and memoQ, and Copilot, is a definite asset

Membership in OTTIAQ is an asset

Skills in coaching to give feedback to junior translators

Experience in the banking sector or in a structured work environment

Experience in insurance

Knowledge of Copilot is a definite asset

Experience working on senior leadership communications or corporate communications

Education Requirements

B.A. with specialization in English-to-French translation required

Membership in OTTIAQ is an asset

Required Experience

At least 10 years of experience in translation and five years of experience in revision in a structured work environment, specializing in banking





Experience in post-editing of machine translation

Nice-to-Have Experience

Experience in the banking sector or structured work environment

Experience in insurance

Experience working on senior leadership communications or corporate communications

Capable of working in production most of the day, reviewing

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Fast-paced work environment with a balance of approximately 60% revision and 40% translation tasks

Approximately 2 hours weekly spent in meetings

Interaction with internal and external partners

Contractor will have access to customer data

Overtime possible

On-the-job training provided

Important Notes

Candidates must live within a reasonable distance of the hub location; those who live too far away will not be considered

Interview process: 1 round virtual (20 minutes), followed by a 3-hour test — details will be shared during the 20-minute call; if the test results are satisfactory, an in-person interview of 1 hour will follow
