About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Battery Storage Engineer to join their expanding renewable energy team in Kimberley . This role is critical for the design, integration, and optimization of advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) that complement renewable generation projects. You will be responsible for technical specifications, system design, performance analysis, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of BESS installations. This is an exceptional chance for an experienced engineer to contribute to grid stability and renewable energy deployment in the Northern Cape , working within a company at the forefront of energy innovation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the technical design and engineering of utility-scale and behind-the-meter battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Develop technical specifications for BESS components, including batteries, inverters, control systems, and safety equipment.
- Conduct system integration studies, ensuring seamless operation with renewable energy sources and the grid.
- Analyze performance data, troubleshoot issues, and optimize BESS operation for maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards, codes, and regulations for energy storage systems.




- Collaborate with project managers, EPC contractors, and grid operators throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in the design, engineering, or integration of battery energy storage systems .
- In-depth knowledge of battery chemistries, power electronics, energy management systems (EMS), and SCADA.
- Experience with grid interconnection requirements and regulatory frameworks for energy storage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous approach to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
