Prairie Waves Swim School is growing! With a recent pool location opening for our November session, we're looking to add 2–3 experienced swim instructors to our team.

Prairie Waves specializes in private and semi-private swimming lessons, giving instructors the opportunity to work closely with swimmers and provide individualized instruction rather than simply following a group-lesson format.

We're looking for instructors who already have experience teaching swimming and who understand that a great lesson is about more than supervising a swimmer in the water — it's about purposeful instruction, progression, and making every minute count.

Positions Available

Part-Time Day Flex

- Primarily weekday daytime hours
- Flexible schedule with opportunities for consistent weekly hours
- Approximately 9:30 AM–2:30 PM availability is an asset

Part-Time Evening & Weekend

- Primarily weekday evenings and Sundays
- Consistent weekly hours
- Great opportunity for someone looking for a reliable part-time position

Casual Instructor

- Pick-up and substitute shifts based on availability
- Ideal for someone with another job, school, or a variable schedule

We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has previous experience teaching swimming
- Is confident teaching independently
- Can create and maintain a structured 30-minute lesson
- Understands how to progress swimmers toward specific skills and goals
- Can adapt instruction to different ages, abilities and learning styles
- Is comfortable working with both beginners and more advanced swimmers




- Is reliable, punctual and professional
- Communicates well with parents and the Prairie Waves team
- Takes initiative and doesn't need to be constantly directed during lessons
- Is receptive to coaching and willing to incorporate feedback
- Genuinely enjoys teaching and helping swimmers improve

Experience We're Particularly Interested In: We'd love to hear from instructors who have experience with:
- Private or semi-private lessons
- Swim schools
- Lifesaving Society or Red Cross programs
- University or recreation swim programs
- Competitive swimming/coaching
- Teaching a wide range of ages and abilities

Strong previous swim-instruction experience is required for these positions. Prairie Waves provides an orientation and training specific to our program, but we're looking for instructors who are already comfortable and confident teaching swimming independently.

Required Qualifications

- CPR/Standard First Aid

- NLA/Lifeguard Certifications/Awards

- LSI is an asset
- Swim Coaching credentials are also an asset
