Job Summary: The Intermediate Communications Specialist will provide expert communications support to the Court Technology Services (CTS), working closely with executive leadership and project teams to develop and deliver explicit, consistent, and strategic communications. This role focuses on supporting organizational change, executive messaging, employee engagement, and technology initiatives aligned with Alberta Courts standards.
Responsibilities: Develop executive communications including branch updates, organizational announcements, leadership messages, and employee communications.
Prepare monthly CTS Branch communications based on input from the Executive Director and CTS leadership.
Create communication strategies and plans supporting organizational transformation and technology initiatives.
Produce professional communication products such as presentations, executive briefing notes, speaking notes, newsletters, FAQs, infographics, and visual materials.
Develop and maintain branding and visual identity for CTS initiatives ensuring consistency across all communications.
Translate complex business and technical information into clear, audience-appropriate language.
Support organizational change initiatives through employee engagement and change communications.
Review, edit, and provide quality assurance for communications prepared by project teams and leadership.
Review and improve operational communications including service outage and maintenance notifications.
Develop standardized communication templates and guidance for operational and executive communications.
Collaborate with executives, managers, subject matter experts, and project teams to gather information and prepare communication materials.
Develop presentations and materials for executive meetings, leadership forums, town halls, and stakeholder engagement sessions.
Provide communications advice and recommendations to CTS leadership regarding communication approaches and stakeholder messaging.
Ensure all communication products comply with Alberta Courts communication standards, visual identity requirements, and plain language principles.
Required Skills & Certifications: Proven experience in professional communications, particularly in executive and organizational communications.
Strong ability to translate complex technical and business information into clear and concise communications.
Experience developing communication strategies and plans for organizational change and technology initiatives.
Proficiency in creating a variety of communication products including presentations, briefing notes, newsletters, and visual materials.
Knowledge of branding and visual identity development.
Ability to review and edit communications for quality assurance and consistency.
Experience collaborating with leadership, project teams, and stakeholders.
Mandatory completion of training including Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), Access to Information Act (ATIA), Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management, and Respect in the Workplace.
Current criminal record check and Enhanced Security Clearance or equivalent.
Preferred Skills & Certifications: Experience working within government or court-related organizations.
Familiarity with Alberta Courts communication standards and plain language principles.
Advanced skills in visual communication and infographic design.
Additional relevant communications or project management certifications.
Special Considerations: Role requires 100% onsite work at CTS offices in Edmonton (John E. Brownlee Building or First & Jasper Place).
Must provide current criminal record check and Enhanced Security Clearance at no cost.
Compliance with mandatory training requirements post-hire.
Scheduling: Standard work hours are 08:15 to 16:30 Mountain Time, Monday through Friday, excluding provincial holidays.
