In your position as Assistant Teacher, your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Hours of WorkArrive no later than 20 minutes before class so that you are ready to start working 15 minutes before class startsStay until the last child leaves, everything is put away and any other tasks for the teacher are finished (be prepared for this to take more than 15 minutes!)If you are going to be absent, find a replacement at least a week ahead of timeIn cases of sudden illness, try to find a replacement and if not, let the office know by 1:00 pmAssisting StudentsKeep a full set of class notes and ensure that students get any missed workComplete all of the homework yourself at least one week ahead of the classBefore class, get students settled and answer any homework questionsDuring the teaching period,



walk around class and help students organize and write valuable notes and ensure that they are on taskHelp weaker students during class - sit beside them if necessary!AttendanceFor the Assistant Teacher, this include lateness, absents, and homework not donePhone parents if a student is absent 15 minutes after class startsLet them know if there have been any missed tests or handoutsEnsure that everything is fine (i.E.. parents know the child is not at class)MarkingSome marking during the week. This includes True/False or multiple choice type questions, ensure that you have marked it by the next class and you are there to hand it to the teacherTo promote cooperation, inspire confidence, and release the genius in every child.
