Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the full recruitment cycle for specialized, technical, unionized, and non-unionized positions across Velan. In partnership with hiring managers, this individual plays a key role in attracting, selecting, and onboarding top talent to support the company’s operational and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the entire recruitment process, from job requisition approval to hiring.
- Draft and post job advertisements on various recruitment platforms.
- Source candidates, conduct resume screening, and lead interviews.
- Advise managers on recruitment strategies and labor market trends.
- Coordinate pre-employment checks and prepare employment offers.




- Ensure compliance with collective agreements when recruiting unionized employees.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, employment agencies, and other recruitment sources.
- Participate in job fairs and employer branding activities to promote Velan.
- Support the onboarding of new employees and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Produce recruitment performance metrics and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in talent acquisition, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience recruiting both unionized and non-unionized employees.
- Experience recruiting skilled trades, production personnel, professionals, and management-level employees.
- Knowledge of collective agreements and applicable labor laws.
- Proficiency with recruitment tools, job posting platforms, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities effectively.
- Customer service and results-oriented approach.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated autonomy, initiative, and discretion.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment with a high volume of recruitment activity.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with managers, candidates, and external partners.

Special Conditions

- Occasional availability to participate in job fairs and recruitment activities outside regular working hours.
- Occasional travel between Velan sites, including the Montreal and Granby facilities, as required.
