Our Port Hope location is looking for a Health and Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Student to contribute to one of Canada's largest environmental remediation projects while developing valuable skills that will support your future career.

All students applying for student positions at CNL must be returning to full-time studies upon completion of their work term. Exceptions will be made for students who require a work term to graduate.

Field of Study:Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Management, Security Management, Public Safety, Fire and Emergency Services, Industrial Hygiene

Year of study: 1st Year or Higher

What you will be doing!

- Participating in workplace inspections, field assessments, and audits of construction, remediation, and operational activities.
- Assisting with contractor safety oversight and verification of compliance with applicable health, safety, security, and environmental requirements.
- Assisting in conducting basic industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling activities under the guidance of qualified professionals.
- Participating in hazard assessments, risk evaluations, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) development.
- Collecting, tracking, and analyzing occupational health and safety performance data using Microsoft Office applications and specialized software systems.
- Preparing reports, presentations, safety communications, and awareness materials for workers and management.
- Participating in safety meetings, field walkdowns,



and engagement activities with employees and contractors.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

- Education
- Enrolled in, or nearing completion of, a post-secondary program in Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Management, Security Management, or a related discipline.

- Experience

- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AI, Power-Bi, and Outlook.
- Previous related work, volunteer, co-op, or practical experience is considered an asset.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation and workplace safety principles.
- Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required

- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
