Our priority is finding the best person for the role, without limiting the search to Montreal. The successful candidate may live in Gatineau, the Greater Montreal area, or another location compatible with the assigned territory.
The position may be performed on a hybrid or remote basis, as well as on the road, depending on business needs and required travel.
Your role
Transport Laberge is looking for a dynamic, persistent, and results-driven individual to develop new business opportunities and actively contribute to the company’s growth.
Reporting to the Sales Director, the successful candidate will manage an initial portfolio of approximately 25 clients. However, the primary focus of the role will be growing this portfolio through prospecting and new client acquisition, with a target of $1,000,000 in annual revenue.
You will also be responsible for reactivating inactive or declining accounts and executing targeted sales campaigns.
Key responsibilities
- Prospect new clients through phone calls, emails, LinkedIn, networking, and field visits.
- Target OEM dealerships, independent dealerships, importers, and other identified market segments.
- Reactivate inactive accounts and follow up with clients whose business activity has declined.
- Convert prospecting efforts into quote requests, transactions, and long-term business relationships.
- Promote available transportation lanes and shipping opportunities in targeted regions.
- Prepare rates using approved tools and obtain the required authorizations.
- Follow up consistently on quotes and business opportunities.
- Record activities, follow-ups, and pipeline information in the CRM.
- Collaborate with operations, dispatch, customer service, and the billing department.
- Use Excel, Microsoft Copilot, and other approved technology tools effectively.
Candidate profile
- Junior- or intermediate-level experience in B2B sales, business development, prospecting, or account management.
- College or university education in business administration, sales, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in both English and French is required, verbally and in writing. Candidates whose first language is English and second language is French are welcome.
- Comfortable making cold calls and conducting consistent follow-ups.
- Autonomous, organized, persistent, and results-oriented.
- Strong discipline in CRM use and pipeline management.
- Comfortable using Excel, Microsoft Copilot, artificial intelligence, and sales technologies.
- Ability to collaborate in an workplace combining sales, transportation, billing, and customer service.
Territory and travel
This position may require occasional travel within Ontario, the Maritime provinces,
or remote regions of Quebec. The successful candidate may therefore be required to stay away from home for several consecutive days.
A competitive mileage allowance is provided for business travel.
Our priority is finding the right skills and talent. Candidates are not required to live near Lachine. Applications from the Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, and surrounding areas are welcome, within an approximate 250-kilometre radius of Lachine.
Career advancement
This position is part of a 6- to 12-month development path. Based on your results, demonstrated autonomy, and the company’s needs, you may have the opportunity to advance to a Territory Manager position.
Compensation and conditions
- Base salary between $40,000 and $60,000, depending on experience.
- 3% commission, with no cap on the volume of business eligible for commission.
- Estimated total first-year compensation between $60,000 and over $90,000, depending on performance.
- No cap on the volume of business eligible for commission.
- Initial portfolio of approximately 25 clients, with a strong focus on acquiring new accounts.
