Camera & Studio Assistant — Casual / Part-Time

Offline Studios | Downtown Toronto

Pay: $23–$28 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Shoots approximately weekly or every other week

Location: In person at the studio and on location in Toronto

Offline Studios is looking for a reliable, hands-on assistant to support photography and video shoots.

You’ll work directly with the studio owner, helping with equipment setup, camera operation, lighting, and recording. Creative direction will be provided. This role is primarily focused on assisting during shoots, with limited editing work.

Projects may include podcast-style interviews, long-form recordings, on-site live recordings, portraits, editorial brand shoots, and behind-the-scenes content.

Responsibilities

- Set up and pack down cameras, tripods, lights, microphones, and backgrounds.
- Operate a camera and maintain framing and focus under direction.
- Monitor recordings, battery levels, storage space, and basic audio.
- Assist with lighting and equipment during photography and video shoots.
- Help organize and transfer files after shoots.
- Keep equipment and the workspace organized.

What we’re looking for
- Basic knowledge of photography or video cameras, including framing, focus, and exposure.
- Reliability, punctuality, and clear communication.




- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
- Comfort working with a small team and interacting professionally with guests and subjects.
- Availability for occasional shoots in downtown Toronto and at local locations.
- Willingness to learn and become familiar with the studio’s equipment.

Previous shoot experience is helpful, but extensive skilled experience is not required. Personal projects and student work are welcome. Equipment will be provided.

Schedule and editing

Shoots are anticipated approximately once a week or every other week, depending on project needs. Dates and expected hours will be discussed in advance. Hours may vary, and weekly work is not guaranteed.

Editing is not a regular requirement. Any occasional editing assignments and additional paid hours will be agreed upon in advance.
