Responsibilities

The Storesperson will be responsible for: providing parts, tools and equipment to users from stores; performing the inventory control functions of receiving, shipping, stock keeping, materials and tools issuing and related clerical duties. Other responsibilities will include: goods handling, preparing documents, records maintenance, housekeeping, inventory control, while ensuring adherence to stores related policies and procedures. Shift work is required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Grade 12 or equivalent;





Provincial certification in Industrial Warehousing or Automotive Parts preferred;

EXPERIENCE

Two or three years related industrial stores experience with working knowledge of inventory controls;

Ability to operate a forklift;

Must be able to identify common electro-mechanical parts and general tools;

Must be capable of using a computer for inventory control; and

Applicants must be bondable.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Candidates will be required to complete an assessment and participate in an interview as part of the selection process.

To progress to the interview stage, candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% on the assessment to advance to the interview stage.

The relative weighting of the selection process for this position is a combined weighted score of:

30% assessment

70% interview The weighting reflects the relative importance of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications and operational needs required for the position.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week.

This is a full-time temporary position for 6 months, with the potential for extension up to 12 months based on business needs.

Rate of Pay

Wage: $49.57 per hour

Please note: All new employees will be subject to a 6-week trainee rate at 75% of the hourly rate with the remainder of the first year at 90% of the hourly rate.

The Total Compensation Package includes Extended Health, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan upon eligibility.
