We are a Canada-based team developing Valueverse, a children’s educational story and learning IP designed to help children develop practical real-world skills through engaging characters, stories, choices and challenges.

We are looking for a creative and thoughtful Children’s Story Writer & Editor to support the development of our growing English-language story library.

This is a remote, part-time contract opportunity with the potential for long-term collaboration.

Our current content primarily serves children ages 3–8, with future expansion into older age groups.

Responsibilities

- Write original children’s stories based on provided themes, characters and creative briefs Edit and improve existing story drafts for clarity, pacing, dialogue and emotional engagement Develop natural, age-appropriate dialogue and character interactions Maintain consistency across recurring characters, personalities and story settings Adapt storytelling style and language for different age groups Turn educational and real-world concepts into engaging stories without making them feel like lessons Review AI-assisted or internally developed story drafts and improve storytelling quality where needed Provide creative feedback on characters, story structure and overall narrative quality Collaborate with the project team as the Valueverse story world continues to develop

Current Story Formats

Ages 3–5Short picture-book-style stories, generally up to approximately 600 words

Ages 6–8Short children’s stories, generally up to approximately 1,200 words

Illustration is not required for this role.

Qualifications

- Strong English writing, storytelling and editing skills Positive understanding of age-appropriate language for young children Ability to create memorable characters and natural dialogue Strong sense of story structure,



pacing and emotional engagement Ability to follow established character and world-building guidelines Ability to communicate educational or meaningful themes naturally through storytelling Strong attention to detail and consistency Reliable communication and ability to meet agreed deadlines Comfortable receiving feedback and revising creative work

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is an asset:

- Children’s books or picture books Children’s fiction writing Children’s publishing or editorial work Educational content development Animation or children’s screenwriting Early childhood or elementary education Character-driven storytelling Story development for educational or entertainment IP

Published experience is welcome but not required.

Relevant writing samples, unpublished manuscripts or portfolio work are all valuable indicators of experience.

Compensation

CA$25–40 per hour, depending on experience, responsibilities and assignment complexity.

Some ongoing assignments may also be structured on a per-story or per-project basis by mutual agreement.
