Metro Machine Works is looking for a 4th year Apprentice or a Journeyman Machinist.

Metro is a family-owned machining business located in Calgary (SE). At Metro, you'll be a valued member of our small team – not just a number. Our job shop focuses on repair, rebuilding and manufacturing. Every job is different, which makes the work interesting!

Responsibilities:

- - Program, set up and operate CNC mills to produce precision parts and instruments (manual lathe experience would also be an asset)
- -Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
- - Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and calipers
- - Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
- - (Threading/Boring) Bearing diameters and all calculations
- - Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- - Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
- - Maintain a clean and safe work environment




- - Troubleshoot issues with machines and make necessary adjustments or repairs

Requirements:

- - CNC experience
- - Ability to consistently maintain tolerances of .005
- - Ability to use measuring equipment.
- - Knowledge of and ability to select appropriate tools, tool holders, cutters, inserts.
- - High school diploma or equivalent
- - Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- - Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- - Speak English / Good communication skills
