Dance Instructor – After-School Programs
Nooma Space | Maple Ridge, BC
Part-Time | Monday–Friday | 12:30 PM–3:30 PM
About Nooma Space
Nooma Space is a youth development organization that creates fun, creative, and meaningful programs for kids through movement, creativity, teamwork, and play.
We believe dance is more than learning choreography. It’s a way for kids to build confidence, express themselves, connect with others, and have fun.
We’re looking for an energetic and responsible Dance Instructor to join our team and lead after-school dance programs in elementary schools throughout the Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows School District.
The Role
As a Nooma Space Dance Instructor, you’ll lead engaging dance classes for elementary-aged students, typically Kindergarten to Grade 5.
You’ll be responsible for creating a positive, safe, and energetic environment where every child feels comfortable participating—whether they have years of dance experience or have never taken a class before.
Our classes are not about perfection or competition. We want kids moving, creating, laughing, learning, and leaving class feeling good about themselves.
What You’ll Do
- Lead fun and engaging after-school dance classes
- Teach age-appropriate choreography, movement, rhythm, and basic dance foundations
- Create activities that keep kids moving and engaged
- Encourage confidence, creativity, teamwork, and self-expression
- Manage a group of children in a positive and respectful way
- Use games and creative activities when appropriate to keep students engaged
- Handle minor conflicts and behaviour challenges using Nooma Space’s approach and tools
- Follow school and Nooma Space safety and attendance procedures
- Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and the Nooma Space team
- Arrive prepared and ready to lead each program
- Take responsibility for creating a fun and positive experience for every student
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be a skilled performer or have years of formal dance training. We’re looking for someone who is great with kids, reliable, energetic, and confident leading a group.
You’re a great fit if you:
- Have experience teaching or working with children ages 5–12
- Have a background in dance, movement, choreography, or performance
- Are energetic, positive, and comfortable being silly and playful with kids
- Can confidently lead a group and keep students engaged
- Are patient and able to handle different personalities and behaviour
- Are responsible, punctual, and dependable
- Can work independently without needing constant supervision
- Enjoy creating a positive environment where kids feel included
- Have strong communication skills
- Are comfortable adapting activities based on the group
- Have a valid Criminal Record Check or are willing to obtain one
A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is an asset, as you may be working at different schools throughout Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
Schedule
Monday–Friday
12:30 PM–3:30 PM
This is a part-time, school-year position, with opportunities for additional hours during Nooma Space camps and seasonal programs.
You do not need to be available every day, but weekday afternoon availability is important. We're looking for instructors who can commit consistently to their assigned programs.
Why Work With Nooma?
At Nooma Space, you’re not just teaching a class—you’re helping create an experience that kids look forward to every week.
You’ll be part of a team that believes in:
Confidence. Empathy. Teamwork. Creativity. Movement. Fun.
We give our instructors the tools, training, program plans, and support they need to succeed, while giving them room to bring their own personality and creativity into the classroom.
If you love dance, love working with kids, and want to make a positive impact through movement and creativity, we’d love to hear from you.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4.0 – 10.0 per week
