Recreational Dance Teacher – Tap, Ballet, Jazz & Acro

Position: Part-Time Recreational Dance Instructor

Styles: Tap Ballet Jazz Acro

Season: September–June

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate Dance Teacher to join our team and teach recreational dancers in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, and Acro.

Our recreational program is focused on helping dancers develop strong foundations, confidence, coordination, musicality, and a love of dance in a fun, positive, and supportive workplace.

Responsibilities

- Teach engaging, age- and level-appropriate recreational classes.
- Provide instruction in Tap, Ballet, Jazz and/or Acro.
- Plan and prepare weekly lessons.
- Teach proper dance technique, terminology, musicality and performance skills.
- Create a positive, inclusive and encouraging classroom environment.
- Maintain appropriate classroom management and student safety.
- Prepare age-appropriate choreography for the year-end recital.
- Communicate professionally with studio staff, students and parents.
- Attend required rehearsals, staff meetings and studio events.
- Follow all studio policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications
- Previous dance training and teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of one or more of Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Acro.




- Experience teaching children in a recreational setting is an asset.
- Energetic, patient, enthusiastic and dependable.
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to make dance fun while still teaching proper technique.
- Acro certification/training (such as Acrobatic Arts) is an asset.
- Ballet certification/training (such as RAD, CDTA or equivalent) is an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required or willingness to obtain one.

We are especially interested in teachers who can comfortably teach multiple styles and age groups.
