POSITION SUMMARY The Courage to Soar Education Assistant supports Indigenous students in their academic, social, emotional, behavioural, and cultural learning. Working alongside the Classroom Teacher and Education Liaison Officer, the Education Assistant helps students build confidence, identify their learning goals, and access supports and opportunities that promote student well-being and success.

The successful candidate will bring an understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of learning, while creating a supportive and culturally protected environment for Indigenous youth.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

Post-secondary education in Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies,

Indigenous Social Work, or a related field is considered an asset.

Experience working with youth and/or in a not-for-profit or community setting.

Understanding of the Ontario education system and its impact on Indigenous students and families.

Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.

A genuine interest in supporting Indigenous youth and their educational and personal growth.

Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and participate in training as required.

Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Valid driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract.

Reliable transportation.

Required vaccinations must be up to date.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support students with their learning through one-on-one and small-group assistance.

Help students identify learning needs, goals, and opportunities.

Reinforce classroom lessons and support students with assignments and reviews.

Work with the Classroom Teacher and Education Liaison Officer to support student success.





Assist with student supervision during classes, breaks, activities, field trips, and outings.

Support students with academic, social-emotional, and behavioural needs.
