About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Kimberley. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing advanced battery energy storage solutions for a variety of applications, including grid-scale, commercial, and industrial projects. You will work on cutting-edge technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate storage systems effectively. The hybrid nature of this role allows for focused work on-site for critical tasks and collaborative sessions, while offering flexibility for work from home on analysis and design tasks, ensuring project success and efficient team coordination.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and specify components for energy storage systems (ESS), including batteries, inverters, and control systems.
- Perform system modeling and simulation to optimize ESS performance, reliability, and economic viability.
- Develop control strategies and algorithms for ESS operation and integration with renewable energy sources and the grid.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and project managers throughout the product development lifecycle.




- Conduct site assessments and develop technical proposals for ESS installations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ESS performance and integration.

Requirements

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on energy storage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, development, or application of battery energy storage systems.
- Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, control systems, and grid integration principles.
- Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) and experience with ESS design software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment, both independently and collaboratively.
