- Deliver rigorous, Ontario Language Curriculum-aligned instruction in reading, writing, oral communication, and media literacy for assigned grades within the Primary, Junior, and/or Intermediate divisions.
- Use a range of instructional approaches including guided reading, writing workshop, Socratic seminars, reader's theatre, and direct instruction to meet diverse learners where they are.
- Teach the full writing process, grammar and mechanics, comprehension strategies, academic vocabulary, and multiple genres with clear purpose and high expectations.
- Select and incorporate texts, including Islamic literature and non-fiction, that reflect students' identities and expand their understanding of the world.
- Conduct varied assessments including running records, writing conferences, and formal evaluations; provide timely, constructive feedback and prepare Ontario-aligned report cards.
- Maintain a classroom culture where reading and writing are valued, risk-taking is safe,



and Islamic character traits such as curiosity, honesty, and perseverance are lived out in the learning community.
- Collaborate with homeroom and subject teachers to support literacy across the curriculum and contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and provide practical, concrete strategies for supporting literacy at home.
