Queen City Excavating Inc. is a growing civil construction contractor, with a focus on underground piped utilities & earthworks. We service Residential, Commercial, and Industrial sectors. We are looking for a career-oriented person that’s motivated to succeed and has detail-oriented approach to estimating.

This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, as well as working collaboratively on larger tenders.

Responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Review and prepare change order estimates, collaborating with project teams
- Perform quantity takeoffs (Bluebeam,



Agtek are the tools we use)
- Prepare detailed estimates, bid summaries, and proposals (excel based estimates)
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Analyze labour, equipment, material, and production costs
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project walkthroughs
- Identify tender risks & tender opportunities
- Coordinate with operations teams
- Collaborate with the lead estimator and/or operations on large tenders

Qualifications

- Experience in construction estimating. No minimum required
- Knowledge of earthworks, underground utilities, grading, and site development
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications
- Understanding of construction means & methods
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
- Industry experience, and/or Technology Diploma, and/or Engineering Degree are all acceptable qualifications.
