Join our newly forming support services team as a Janitor.

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the senior retirement community. This role focuses on the cleanliness and upkeep of common areas, public spaces, and facility grounds while supporting the comfort, health, and well-being of residents, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

- Clean and maintain common areas, including hallways, lounges, dining rooms, activity areas, offices, elevators, washrooms and entrances.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including door handles, handrails, light switches, elevator buttons, and other frequently contacted surfaces.
- Empty garbage and recycling containers and dispose of waste
- Restock paper products, soap, hand sanitizer, and other janitorial supplies.
- Perform routine floor and carpet care.
- Operate janitorial equipment safely and effectively, including floor scrubbers, vacuums, carpet extractors, and other assigned equipment.
- Perform minor routine maintenance within the scope of the position, such as replacing light bulbs and addressing minor plumbing issues.
- Maintain safe building entrances, sidewalks, and other exterior areas, including snow removal as required during winter conditions.
- Set up, move, and take down tables, chairs, equipment, and other furnishings for resident activities, programs, and community events.
- Provide professional,



courteous, and respectful service when interacting with residents, families, visitors, contractors, and staff, and support a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents.

Qualifications & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous janitorial, custodial or housekeeping experience in hospitality, commercial cleaning, healthcare, facility maintenance, or a similar environment is an asset, particularly experience in a senior living or other resident- or customer-service setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform janitorial duties to established cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and presentation standards, with strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, prioritize assigned tasks, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a courteous, skilled, and respectful approach when interacting with residents, families, visitors, contractors, and coworkers.
- Demonstrated commitment to resident dignity, privacy, confidentiality, safety, and quality customer service.
- Ability to interact appropriately and respectfully with older adults in a senior living environment.
- Satisfactory Criminal record check and vulnerable sector search.
