Costume/Wardrobe Designer –

Overview The Costume/Wardrobe Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and executing the costume design for a production, ensuring all looks align with the director’s vision and function effectively for performance. This role oversees the costume design process from initial concept through final performance and works closely with the Director, Stage Manager, and Costume Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop costume concepts and sketches that support the story and characters.
- Select and source fabrics, accessories,



and materials within budget.
- Oversee fittings and alterations, ensuring design integrity and performer comfort.
- Attend rehearsals and tech to assess costume function under stage conditions.
- Maintain a detailed costume plot and collaborate with wardrobe crew on quick changes and backstage logistics.
- Document schedules, notes, and updates in Trello or a shared platform.
- Supervise costume returns, repairs, and post-show storage or archiving.

Qualifications

- 1–3 years of experience in costume design for theatre or performance.
- Solid design portfolio and knowledge of costume history and construction.
- Proficiency in garment design, fitting, and backstage protocols.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Trello or willingness to learn.

This role requires creativity, leadership, and adaptability to bring the visual world of the show to life through thoughtful, functional costume design.
