Role Description The Junior Civil Engineering Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in London, ON. In this role, the technician supports civil engineering projects by preparing drawings and plans using CAD software, assisting with design calculations, and helping to compile project documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities may include collecting and organizing field data, preparing quantity estimates, assisting with contract administration, and supporting site inspection activities under the guidance of senior staff.

The technician collaborates with engineers and other team members to ensure that designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements,



and contributes to the accuracy and completeness of project deliverables. This position offers learning opportunities and progressive responsibility as technical skills develop.

Qualifications

- Foundational civil engineering technology skills, including understanding of basic structural, municipal, and transportation design principles.
- Proficiency with CAD and related design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) for preparation of plans, profiles, and construction details.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and survey data, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills to manage multiple tasks and support project delivery.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with team members, contractors, and clients as required.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Eligibility for or membership in a relevant professional technologist or technician association (e.g., OACETT) is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to attend project sites in various weather conditions, as needed.
- Willingness to learn, follow established procedures, and adhere to health, safety, and quality standards.
