Position Purpose summary: The Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator work is focused on ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing volunteers and donations and ensuring competent and compliant Kettle Coverage for all areas.

Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to others.

Kettle

Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area.

Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Accountabilities

Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign

Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset

Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion

Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to Fundraising Coordinator

Orient and remind volunteers regarding proper Kettle handling and duties as required

Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign

Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers

Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently

Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition

Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.

Assist with the reception of full kettles at the end of the day.

Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This is a temporary position. Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.

Work setting is typically in malls/stores. Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather. Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel is associated with this position.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.

Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education: Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service. Money handling experience is an asset.

Experience in office administration.

Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).

Valid Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting; attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.

Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.)

Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.





Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.

Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.

Honest, courteous, and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer.

Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.

Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.

Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
