Mechanical Engineering Full-Time / Contract

Mechanical Building Engineer Fully Remote (Alberta, Canada) Reports to: Principal Engineer / Engineering Manager

Advanced Engineering Group Inc. (AEGI) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of mechanical building systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects across Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

Design and prepare mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for building projects.

Develop HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and building mechanical system designs.

Perform heating/cooling load calculations, equipment selection, and system analysis.

Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines.

Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction support.

Conduct site reviews and assist with project commissioning.

Ensure designs comply with Alberta Building Code, ASHRAE, CSA standards, and applicable regulations.

Support building permit submissions and project documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Registered Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or eligible for registration with APEGA.

Experience in building mechanical engineering design.

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and building codes.





Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.

Preferred Experience

Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-unit residential buildings.

Experience preparing engineering drawings for building permits.

Knowledge of energy-efficient mechanical design and sustainable building practices.
