Optometric Assistant – Full-Time

We are established private optometry clinics looking for a Full-Time Optometric Assistant to join our team and work between our Olds and Carstairs locations.

Our clinics are professional, modern, and focused on providing exceptional, patient-centered care. We offer comprehensive eye exams, dry eye treatments, contact lens services, and boutique eyewear in a welcoming and team-oriented environment.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping others, provides excellent customer service, and works well as part of a team. Previous optometry or optical experience is an asset but not required — we are happy to provide the training needed for the right person to be successful in the role.

Please note: This position requires the ability to work at and travel between both our Olds and Carstairs locations.

Responsibilities

- Perform preliminary testing prior to patients seeing the optometrist
- Assist patients with contact lenses, including contact lens instruction
- Assist with glasses dispensing, adjustments, and general optical support
- Greet patients and provide a welcoming clinic experience
- Answer phones and emails and schedule patient appointments
- Complete general reception and administrative duties




- Support optometrists with patient care during eye exams
- Assist patients with frame and eyewear selection
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic and optical sales floor
- Work collaboratively with the clinic team to ensure a positive patient experience

Qualifications

- Previous customer service experience
- Friendly, professional, and patient-focused attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with sales and helping patients select products that meet their needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with EMR or optometry software is considered an asset
- CCOA certification or Optician experience is considered an asset
- Ability to reliably travel between the Olds and Carstairs clinic locations
