About Orica About the role We are excited to announce an opportunity to join Orica's North America Payroll Team as a Payroll Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly and Monthly Canadian payroll while delivering exceptional customer service to employees and managers regarding payroll-related matters.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining data integrity, and collaborating with employees, HR, Finance, and business partners to ensure payroll excellence.

This position is a replacement.

What you will be doing Payroll Processing

Process payroll transactions and wage calculations in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Verify the accuracy of payroll data prior to final submission in Dayforce.

Review, verify, and manage the flow of payroll-related information between systems and stakeholders, including General Ledger (GL) for Finance, HR, Payroll, and tax interfaces.

Validate and process employee lifecycle changes, including:

New hires and terminations Promotions and compensation changes

Wage garnishments and child support orders

Tax deduction updates

Relocation expenses

Bonus payments

Other payroll-related transactions

Data Integrity

Maintain the accuracy and integrity of payroll data and employee records.

Review personnel records to ensure employee information is current and accurately reflected in payroll systems.

Audit payroll information and investigate discrepancies as required.

Customer Service

Deliver timely, professional, and high-quality customer service to employees and managers regarding payroll inquiries.

Utilize the HR ticketing system to respond to and resolve payroll-related requests.

Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the employee payroll experience.

Work with a variety of systems, including: Dayforce Payroll

ServiceNow Ticketing System

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Outlook 365

What you will bring

1 to 2 years of payroll processing experience.

Experience processing Canadian payroll – mandatory.

Experience using the Dayforce payroll system – a strong asset.

Familiarity with collective agreements and unionized payroll environments – an asset.

Knowledge of payroll legislation, deductions, and payroll best practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing interruptions.

Bilingualism (English/French) – an asset.

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week onsite at an Orica office.

The position may be based in Boisbriand, QC; Sudbury, ON; Calgary, AB; or Maple Ridge/Kamloops, BC.

The regular schedule is Monday to Friday during daytime hours.

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Compensation range

Between $35 and $45 / hour
