RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead the planning, design, and execution of capital projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and technical specifications to support refinery improvement initiatives.
- Provide engineering support to Operations and Maintenance teams, including equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and outage planning.
- Coordinate project activities with Operations, Maintenance, Health & Safety, Compliance, and external contractors.
- Manage contractors and vendors, including procurement of equipment and services, to ensure project objectives are met.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, providing regular updates to plant leadership.
- Support regulatory compliance by maintaining awareness of applicable permits, codes, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, and records related to facility modifications and capital projects.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve plant performance, safety, reliability,
and operational efficiency.
- Perform other engineering and project-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical related discipline); Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
- 5 to 10 years of engineering experience in a refinery, chemical processing, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital projects from concept development through execution and commissioning.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and other engineering and project management tools.
- Solid understanding of refinery equipment, systems, and process operations.
- Knowledge of process instrumentation, piping systems, valves, pumps, materials of construction, coating systems, fire protection systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Experience developing engineering designs, technical specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with a focus on operational reliability and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across operations, maintenance, and leadership teams.
