This is a casual Registered Nurse position working for Inpatient Psychiatry in Fort McMurray. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide protected, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

1 year of recent Mental Health and Addiction nursing experience, preference given to experience on an Inpatient Psychiatry unit.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication skills. Working knowledge of patient and family centered care principles. Demonstrated ability to independently conduct a mental status assessment, formulate a problem list, and plan care. A demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based addiction and mental health treatment modalities. A working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Health Information Act.
