About RAM Elevators & Lifts

RAM Elevators & Lifts is an Alberta-based manufacturer and installer of residential and accessibility elevators and lifts. Our products are custom-built and contain a combination of mechanical, electrical, structural and finished components that must arrive at the jobsite safely, accurately and ready for installation.

The Packaging & Shipping team plays an important role in the customer experience. The quality of our work does not end when a product leaves production, it must also be packaged, protected, documented and shipped correctly so that the equipment arrives at the customer or jobsite in excellent condition.

Position Summary The Senior Packager & Shipping Coordinator is an experienced member of RAM's Packaging & Shipping team responsible for ensuring completed elevator and lift components are accurately inspected, prepared, packaged, labelled, documented and coordinated for shipment.

This role combines hands-on packaging and material-handling responsibilities with shipping coordination and administrative duties. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, understand how to safely package large, heavy and finished components, and be comfortable coordinating shipments with internal departments, carriers, suppliers and customers.

The Senior Packager & Shipping Coordinator will serve as a knowledgeable resource within the Packaging & Shipping department and help maintain consistent standards for packaging quality, shipping accuracy, organization and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging & Product Preparation

- Review completed products and components prior to packaging to ensure they are ready for shipment.
- Verify components against work orders, packing lists, drawings, bills of materials and other applicable documentation.
- Package elevator, lift and related components using appropriate materials and methods to prevent damage during handling and transportation.
- Protect painted, finished, machined and other damage-sensitive surfaces from scratches, dents, moisture and other shipping hazards.
- Determine appropriate packaging methods based on the size, weight, shape and fragility of components.
- Build, assemble and prepare crates, skids, pallets and other shipping containers as required.
- Secure components appropriately to prevent shifting or movement during transportation.
- Ensure hardware, fasteners, electrical components, manuals and other required materials are included with the appropriate shipment.
- Confirm that shipments are complete before they leave the facility.
- Identify and report missing, damaged, incorrect or incomplete components before shipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe packaging area.

Shipping Coordination

- Coordinate outgoing shipments with internal departments, carriers, couriers and customers as required.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries according to production completion dates and project requirements.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation, packing slips, bills of lading, labels and other required paperwork.
- Accurately record shipment information, including dimensions, weights, quantities and destination information.
- Coordinate freight requirements for oversized, heavy, fragile or specialized elevator components.
- Communicate shipment status, delays, discrepancies or changes to the appropriate internal teams.
- Work closely with Production, Service, Installation, Purchasing and other departments to ensure shipments are prepared on time.
- Assist with selecting appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on shipment requirements.
- Verify carrier documentation and ensure products are released for shipment only when properly prepared.
- Track shipments as required and follow up on delays,



damages or delivery issues.

Inventory & Material Control

- Maintain organization of packaged goods, completed orders and shipping materials.
- Assist with inventory accuracy within the Packaging & Shipping area.
- Ensure materials and components are stored in their designated locations.
- Monitor packaging supplies and communicate when replenishment is required.
- Assist with identifying discrepancies between physical materials and shipping documentation.
- Help maintain proper identification and traceability of customer orders and components.

Quality & Customer Experience

- Conduct final visual checks of packaged products before shipment.
- Ensure RAM products are presented professionally and protected throughout the shipping process.
- Take appropriate action when packaging or product quality does not meet RAM standards.
- Report recurring packaging, product or shipping issues to the appropriate department.
- Help identify opportunities to improve packaging methods, reduce product damage and improve shipping efficiency.
- Support investigations into freight damage, missing components and shipping discrepancies.

Senior-Level Support

- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for other Packaging & Shipping team members.
- Assist newer employees with proper packaging techniques, shipping procedures and safe material handling.
- Help maintain consistent department standards and work practices.
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements to packaging and shipping processes.
- Assist the supervisor with implementing improved packaging procedures and workflow.
- Support training and knowledge transfer within the department.
- Step in to assist with more complex, urgent or time-sensitive shipments.

Safety

- Follow all RAM safety policies, procedures and applicable occupational health and safety requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safely operate or assist with the operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, lifting equipment and other material-handling equipment, where trained and authorized.
- Ensure loads are properly secured before movement or shipment.
- Maintain clear walkways and safe working areas.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, damaged equipment or other safety concerns.
- Participate in required safety training and workplace safety initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

- 3 years of experience in packaging, shipping, warehouse, manufacturing or a similar industrial workplace.
- Demonstrated experience preparing products for shipment.
- Carpentry: skills and tool operation (saws, pneumatics, and hand tools)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, packing lists and other production/shipping documentation.
- Experience shipping large, heavy, fragile or high-value equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and deadlines.
- Experience with freight carriers, bills of lading and shipping documentation.
- Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with production and office teams.
- Ability to safely lift, move and handle materials and equipment as required.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.




- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices.

Preferred

- Experience in a manufacturing or custom fabrication environment.
- Experience using ERP, inventory management or shipping software.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
- Experience in the elevator, accessibility equipment, construction, mechanical or industrial manufacturing industry.
- Crane operator certification an asset·
- First Aid certificate an asset

Physical Requirements

This position is hands-on and requires regular physical activity, including:

- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling materials.
- Working around large equipment and packaged components.
- Repetitive bending, reaching and handling of materials.
- Safely moving materials using appropriate equipment.
- Lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs independently where safe to do so, with heavier items moved using appropriate lifting equipment or team assistance.

Candidates with extensive experience in industrial shipping, custom manufacturing, freight coordination, forklift/material handling and packaging of large or high-value equipment may be considered toward the upper end of the range.
