Role Description The Structural Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Coquitlam, BC. This position is responsible for preparing detailed structural shop drawings and technical drawings, including plans, sections, and elevations for steel, concrete, and other structural systems. The role involves interpreting engineering and architectural design information, coordinating with engineers and inspectors, and updating drawings to reflect design changes and field conditions.

The Structural

Drafter will maintain drawing standards, organize project documentation,



and support the integration of structural models into BIM workflows. Daily work includes collaborating with project teams to ensure drawings are accurate, code-compliant, and delivered on schedule.

Qualifications

- Ability to produce accurate Shop Drawings and Technical Drawings for structural components.
- Experience preparing and interpreting Architectural Drawings related to structural layouts.
- Foundational knowledge of Structural Engineering concepts to support practical and protected designs.
- Proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and workflows for structural projects.
- Strong skills in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) and digital drafting standards.
- Attention to detail, ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication specifications.
- Diploma or certificate in drafting, civil/structural technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineers, inspectors, and fabrication shops.
- Experience in industrial or structural steel environments is an asset.
