Our work spans erosion and sediment control, environmental monitoring, traffic control and flagging, civil site preparation, underground utilities, roadwork maintenance, construction cleaning, snow removal, surveying, and geomatics support. Position Overview

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) is responsible for leading traffic control crews and overseeing safe work zones in accordance with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) guidelines and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. The TCS plays a critical role in planning, directing, and maintaining safe work zones on active construction and maintenance sites.

This position involves reviewing and implementing approved Traffic Management Plans, directing TCPs and LCTs, and monitoring traffic flow, crew performance, and site conditions throughout the shift. The TCS communicates clearly with the Site Supervisor, clients, equipment operators, and the public to address hazards, changing site conditions, and traffic disruptions.

A strong commitment to safety, leadership, and regulatory compliance is essential. The TCS must remain alert at all times, ensure crews follow established procedures, and take immediate action to prevent unsafe conditions, ensuring the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians.

Hours:



10-12hrs per day / 50-60hrs per week

Salary Range: $28.00 - $30.00 (Hourly); $56,000 – $65,000 (Annually)

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, schedule, and supervise TCPs and LCTs in accordance with BC Ministry of Transportation (MoTI) guidelines and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Review, implement, and adjust approved Traffic Management Plans and site-specific traffic control procedures
- Conduct pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments, and work zone inspections
- Ensure traffic control devices are set up, maintained, and removed to standard
- Communicate clearly and professionally with Site Supervisors, clients, crew members, equipment operators, and the public
- Identify, report, and investigate hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Complete daily documentation including logs, inspections, and incident reports
- Coach and mentor crew members and perform TCP or LCT duties when required
- Represent Stamsh in a professional, respectful, and safety-focused manner at all times

- Robust leadership and clear communication with crews, clients, and the public
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures consistently
- Ability to remain calm, alert, and decisive in fast-moving environments
- Advanced understanding of traffic control layouts, Traffic Management Plans, and work zone safety
- Time management, scheduling, and organization across varying locations
- Ability to work independently while building a strong team-based site culture

Qualifications

- Valid BC Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification
- Valid BC Traffic Control Person (TCP) and Lane Closure Technician (LCT) certifications
- Minimum 3 years of traffic control experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English




- Valid BC Driver's Licence (Class 5) with a clean driving record
- Valid First Aid certification considered an asset

Conditions of Employment

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold)
- Capacity to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions such as holding a traffic paddle
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 30 lbs to 50 lbs
- Use of required PPE including high-visibility apparel, hard hat, safety footwear, and traffic control equipment
- Work hours may vary and can include early mornings, extended shifts, weekends, or overtime based on project needs
